The #1 sleeper RB?

Trade analysis, top 16 articles/videos, and top 5 player insights

Yooo!

Happy Sunday. I got nothing for the intro today, so here’s a random pic of Phillip Lindsay:

Here’s what else I got for you tonight:

  • Which side got the better deal?

  • 16 articles + videos we loved this week

  • Top 5 player insights

Giddy up.

The results from Wednesday are in. I asked what you thought of this trade submitted by Marc:

Team A (Rebuilder) receives:

  • Rome Odunze

  • 2025 1.02 pick

Team B (Contender) receives:

  • CeeDee Lamb

  • 2025 2.03 pick

I messed up by forgetting the “Fair for both sides” option, but it looks like Team B was the winner in convincing fashion (CeeDee Lamb + 2025 2.03 pick).

Here are some additional comments left by the voters from each side:

Team A voters (Rome Odunze + 2025 1.02 pick):

  • “Obviously CeeDee is a proven stud, but Rome is on that same trajectory with an improving EVERYTHING (team, staff, situation, rapport with Caleb)...Odunze is a burgeoning stud. Throw in an almost certain stud as well with the 1.02. And this side makes out with a HAUL.”

Team B voters (CeeDee Lamb + 2025 2.03 pick):

  • “Picks not spread far enough to offset the difference in player value. ”

  • “The 2.3 makes team B the winner to me. Odunze and Hampton for CeeDee seems reasonable on its own if you believe in Odunze and Caleb. ”

  • “If it was the 1.01 and Jeanty I would go side A, if I knew I could turn the 1.02 into two picks later in the first I probably would too. But just the assets as is, I’d rather have the sure thing in Lamb. No guarantee Rome ever justifies the draft capital.”

Our take:

  • Lamb is a fantasy superstar, and I believe you should make people overpay for fantasy superstars. Odunze and Omarion Hampton (presumably) could turn out to be a GREAT haul, but I would’ve preferred guys with a longer track record of performance here.

Today’s contestant…

Podcasts/Videos:

  • Coming off a career-high 44-touchdown season, Mayfield's production may be unsustainable given his previous career-high was 29 touchdowns

  • Posted a 7.3% touchdown rate despite ranking 30th in air yards per attempt (7.0), well above his previous high of 5.4%

  • Faces potential challenges with aging Mike Evans and Chris Godwin's ankle concerns heading into 2025

  • Current QB14 dynasty ranking may be inflated due to unsustainable touchdown production and lack of rushing upside

  • Cam Skattebo is named the #1 sleeper running back, with the host admitting he almost didn't want to reveal the pick because Skattebo is so close to mattering in fantasy and could break out fast.

  • Despite being a day three rookie with no pedigree, Skattebo has impressed Giants coach Brian Daboll with his hands, toughness, versatility, and pass blocking—possibly already the best on the team.

  • The host highlights Skattebo's real pass-catching work, noting he led all D1 backs in yards after the catch and had the highest target share among rookies last year, with beat writers calling him a 'weapon' rather than just a camp body.

  • Skattebo's compact, violent running style and ability to handle pass protection make him a perfect fit for a Giants team likely to struggle, as he doesn't need game script to be relevant—he is the game script.

  • The host predicts Skattebo will be the guy who ends up mattering in the fantasy playoffs, especially if the Giants' season goes as expected, making him a true mega sleeper for 2025.

  • D.J. Moore is valued as the WR30 (78th overall) on Keep Trade Cut, about four rounds after Garrett Wilson, making him a prime trade-down target.

  • Moore averaged 8.2 targets, 5.8 receptions, 57 yards, 0.35 touchdowns, and 13.9 fantasy points per game last season, with five top-24 weeks (four top-12 finishes).

  • After the Bears fired Shane Waldron, Moore was on pace for 123 targets, 1,200 yards, and 6 touchdowns, producing as the WR11 overall and WR16 in points per game over that stretch—outperforming names like A.J. Brown and Nico Collins.

  • The host predicts Moore could outproduce Garrett Wilson in 2025, especially with the Bears' offensive upgrades and Ben Johnson's scheme, and sees Moore as the clear WR1 in Chicago with a strong chance to finish as a fantasy WR1 again.

  • Ladd McConkey is being drafted as the WR10, but the hosts argue that he's being selected at his ceiling and struggle to see a path for him to exceed that value, especially given the Chargers' limited passing volume.

  • In 2024, McConkey ranked 26th in endzone targets, 20th in first-read target share, 30th in expected fantasy points among players with at least 100 targets, and 20th in expected fantasy points per route run, raising concerns about his upside.

  • The hosts debate whether McConkey can realistically reach a Drake London-level target share, expressing skepticism about his ability to crack the top six to eight receivers without a significant increase in targets.

  • Despite acknowledging McConkey's talent and athleticism, the hosts consistently prefer other third-round options in Superflex tight end premium drafts, suggesting that his current ADP (301) is too rich for their taste.

  • Bold prediction: Mason Taylor projected to finish as a top 12 TE in PPR formats for 2025

  • Former LSU tight end joins the New York Jets as one of their few offensive playmakers in the passing game

  • Expected to benefit from connection with new Jets QB Justin Fields, who previously helped Cole Kmet achieve career-best receiving seasons

  • Praised for his prototypical tight end skills, including impressive routes, solid hands, and large frame

  • Positioned to be an immediate contributor in Jets' offense alongside WR Garrett Wilson
