Yooo!

Hope you survived round 1 of the fantasy playoffs (or are still fighting in MNF). It was a wild weekend.

I was in 5 leagues this year (4 dynasty, 1 redraft).

  • I made the playoffs in all 5

  • Had a bye in 2 of them

  • Put up 192 in my main $500 dynasty league to advance

  • Got smoked in my other 2 leagues

I’ll take 3 out of 5 teams advancing to the semifinals this year.

How did your leagues shake out? šŸ‘‡ļø

RB - Tyrone Tracy Jr. (NYG)

  • Tyrone Tracy Jr. came out of the bye week strong with 15 carries for 70 yards and a rushing touchdown, plus three catches for 27 yards and a receiving touchdown, clearly establishing himself as the lead back over Devin Singletary.

  • Singletary only had five carries for 13 rushing yards and one target compared to Tracy's 15 carries and three targets, giving Tracy a huge edge in both rushing and receiving work.

  • Tracy is trending up for the rest of the season with a Week 16 matchup against Minnesota in New York and a Week 17 game against Las Vegas, both of which present favorable opportunities for production.

  • His dual-threat ability and clear lead role make him a confident fantasy play in the final two weeks, especially as the Giants continue to feature him as their primary offensive weapon in the backfield.

  • Our take: I like Tracy the rest of the way, but the long-term path is less certain. Most of Tracy’s value will evaporate when Skattebo returns. Unless you need him for this year, I’d be looking to move him as soon as I can to capitalize on his recent performances.

QB - Trevor Lawrence (JAX)

  • Trevor Lawrence has emerged as an elite quarterback, currently holding the second-most points for a quarterback in a game this season. In Week 15, he delivered an exceptional performance with 330 passing yards, five touchdown passes, and an additional 51 rushing yards with another score.

  • Since the Jaguars' Week 9 bye, Lawrence has been dominant, ranking as the QB2 overall and QB3 in points per game, and the QB1 from Week 12 onwards. The addition of Jakobi Meyers and Lawrence's improved rushing ability have been key to his recent success.

  • Lawrence has shown significant improvement with Liam Coen calling plays, demonstrating increased effectiveness both through the air and on the ground. He has scored four rushing touchdowns on designed runs in his last seven games and is averaging nearly 30 rushing yards per game during that span.

  • Our take: The Jets are basically throwing a practice squad defense out there, but Lawrence balled nonetheless. You have to be encouraged about his long-term outlook with Coen in town. It didn’t click right away, but they’re humming now.

RB - Jahmyr Gibbs (DET)

  • Jahmyr Gibbs has displayed a consistent boom-bust pattern throughout the season, alternating between massive performances (35 points, 25 points) and disappointing outings (7 points, 10 points) on a week-to-week basis.

  • Despite failing to find the end zone in Week 15 against the Rams, Gibbs remains a must-start player due to his elite role in the Lions' high-powered offense.

  • The Lions continue to feature Gibbs heavily in both the rushing and passing game, maintaining his status as a top-tier fantasy running back regardless of individual game variance.

  • Fantasy managers should expect Gibbs to bounce back in Week 16 against the Steelers, as his talent and opportunity make him a weekly RB1 despite the frustrating inconsistency.

  • Our take: Obviously, nobody is worried about Gibbs long-term. But I wanted to highlight this disappointing performance for a few reasons:

    • 1) Matchups can make or break you in the fantasy playoffs. The Rams game planned to take away Gibbs, and they did just that. It’s tough to plan for this in dynasty sometimes, but it leads me to my 2nd point…

    • 2) The bye week is SO important for fantasy football. Putting together 3 solid weeks vs the top half of your league is much harder than stringing 2 weeks together. I’ve won my main dynasty league 2 of the last 3 years. The 2 years I won, I had a bye and would’ve lost in the 1st round if I didn’t. The year that I lost, I got bounced in the 1st round. Don’t underestimate the importance of the bye week.

QB - Joe Burrow (CIN)

  • Joe Burrow is experiencing a challenging period, both on and off the field, scoring just 5.5 fantasy points in Week 15 with 225 yards and two interceptions. More notably, Burrow has raised concerns about his enjoyment of the game, publicly discussing the need to 'have more fun' and questioning his continued participation.

  • While Burrow clarified that his comments were not specifically aimed at Cincinnati, the remarks have sparked dynasty fantasy concerns about his long-term motivation and potential early retirement. The article suggests these comments are slightly concerning for his dynasty stock, despite expectations that he should return to high-level play next year.

  • The quarterback's comments have drawn attention to the mental and emotional challenges professional athletes face, particularly after experiencing significant physical and professional pressures throughout their careers.

  • Our take: I’ll be watching this story closely in the last few games of the year. If the offense continues to look bad, it could be a great buy-low opportunity on Burrow as soon as the fantasy offseason hits, with overall sentiment seeming way down on him.

RB - TreVeyon Henderson (NE)

  • Henderson had a breakout performance in Week 15, posting 29.1 fantasy points with two rushing touchdowns of 50+ yards, demonstrating his explosive potential in the Patriots' backfield.

  • Despite Rhamondre Stevenson being active, Henderson dominated the game with 14 carries for 148 yards, averaging an impressive 10.6 yards per carry and establishing himself as one of the most explosive backs in the league.

  • The article emphasizes that Henderson has reached must-start territory for upcoming Week 16 against Baltimore and Week 17 against the Jets, highlighting his rising fantasy football value.

  • Our take: These were the players directly in front of TreVeyon in our consensus RB rankings before this week:

    • RB5 - Ashton Jeanty (R)

    • RB6 - Omarion Hampton (R)

    • RB7 - Bucky Irving

    • RB8 - James Cook

    • RB9 - Quinshon Judkins (R)

    • RB10 - Christian McCaffrey

    • RB11 - TreVeyon Henderson (R)

  • TreVeyon is averaging 22.62 ppr points per game since Week 10. He has legitimate top-5 dynasty RB upside. He was ranked as low as RB16 in early November!

That’s all for tonight!

See ya pizza,

Joe
