Yooo!

Tonight, we’ve finally got some training camp news to check in on. LFG. We’re so close.

As you know, we reduced the newsletter cadence to 1x per week for the early part of the offseason as we worked on building out the new site.

Now that training camp is back, it’s time to ramp back up!

Last year, we did 5x per week (Mon-Fri). It was a lot to handle. But I’m going to do my best to work up to that cadence again starting in August.

In the meantime, check out our mobile app for more daily insights:

Last week, I subbed out our normal player poll for a feedback poll: “What did you think of today's newsletter format?”

80% of you said, “I like today’s version better.”

Best subscriber comments:

  • I like the old version better: “I don't mind the format, however - the topics were all mainstream and available on any platform. I think most would agree that we're subscribed here for the real sweaty insights.”

  • I like today’s version better: “This seems more like what the Football Guys do and I love their daily newsletter format”

Our take: Heard! We’ll stick with the new format, but also make sure we’re still finding and sharing the hidden-gem insights and takes we’re all constantly searching for.

Alright, now let’s get to some news you might’ve missed this week.

Giddy up.

The #1 Roth Conversion Mistake That Costs Retirees

Most people missed the first Roth conversion window. History is offering a rare second chance — but not a long one.

With today's tax rates extended, IRA Millionaires have a brief stretch of historically low brackets left. When it closes, the math changes: higher rates, bigger required distributions, and fewer conversion opportunities each year you wait.

Craig Wear, CFP®, has spent 15+ years helping more than 3,000 families with $1M+ in IRAs plan Roth conversions — helping them avoid a projected $10B+ in lifetime taxes. His new book, Roth Conversion Reset, is the step-by-step playbook:

Lock in today's low rates
Avoid RMD surprises at 73
Protect your spouse from survivor taxes
Keep more for your heirs

The book is free — no credit card, no shipping. The full PDF lands in your inbox in minutes.

NEW! Going to use this section to share some quick takes and hidden gem insights from around the industry

D.J. Moore (WR, BUF): Analysts express significant concern over his recent production, citing three consecutive years of declining fantasy points per game and PFF grades, alongside a low 1.16 yards per route run. (Ship Chasing, 2026-07-29)

Terry McLaurin (WR, WAS): Market concerns regarding his age (30) are overstated, as wide receivers frequently maintain elite production levels into their mid-30s, suggesting he has at least two to three productive seasons remaining. (Footballguys Fantasy Football Show, 2026-07-29)

A.J. Brown (WR, NE): Despite perceptions of a decline, he maintained elite production from Week 10 through the fantasy playoffs, averaging over 16 fantasy points per game and finishing as a top-7 wide receiver. (PlayerProfiler Fantasy Football Podcast Network, 2026-07-29)

Ted Hurst (WR, TB): His long-term outlook is bolstered by the potential departure of veteran receivers after the 2026 season, making him a high-upside target at the top of the second round in dynasty rookie drafts. (FantasyPros Latest Articles and Advice, 2026-07-29)

Caleb Williams (QB, CHI): His pressure-to-sack rate dropped from 28.2% as a rookie to 9.6% in 2025, which ranked as the third-best mark among all quarterbacks. (Pro Football Focus, 2026-07-29)

Emeka Egbuka (WR, TB): He demonstrated significant explosive-play ability as a rookie, recording 20 receptions of 20-plus yards, which tied him for fifth among all wide receivers. This production occurred despite a dysfunctional offensive environment, suggesting his ceiling is higher than his rookie-year output indicates. (RotoWire Fantasy Football With Theo Gremminger, 2026-07-29)

Mike Evans (WR, SF): His move to a new offense provides a significant upgrade in quarterback play, as his new signal-caller led the league in deep-ball catchable pass rate last season. (PlayerProfiler Fantasy Football Podcast Network, 2026-07-29)

Denzel Boston (WR, CLE): While initially projected as a possession-based boundary receiver, his early performance suggests he possesses more route-running nuance and separation ability than his pre-draft scouting reports indicated. (The Dawgs - A Cleveland Browns Podcast, 2026-07-29)

Isaiah Likely (TE, NYG): He has not demonstrated high-level efficiency in his career, with target-per-route-run rates that do not support the breakout narrative often associated with him. (Ship Chasing, 2026-07-29)

Giants' Malik Nabers avoids the PUP list to open camp, but analysts are split on what that actually proves

Pro Football Focus relayed a report that it's "fair to be optimistic" Nabers will be available for Week 1 after he avoided the physically unable to perform list, adding that he is expected to have a reduced workload early in camp as he continues recovering from the torn ACL that ended his 2025 season after four games. NFL Daily with Gregg Rosenthal pushed back on the celebration, noting that not being on PUP doesn't necessarily mean a player is remotely healthy, only that the team wants him doing extra work at the start of camp. Yahoo Sports put the consensus timeline closer to Week 3.

Our take: I’m a Giants fan and have given up trying to guess when he’ll be ready. As it relates to fantasy, I’m operating under the assumption he won’t be available / 100% healthy until multiple weeks into the season.

Colts' Daniel Jones says he's fully cleared for camp with no restrictions, under eight months after tearing his Achilles

ProFootballTalk reported that Jones will have no restrictions for the team's first practice Wednesday and will participate in 11-on-11 drills for the first time since his Dec. 7 injury, quoting him as saying "I'm in a really good spot. I can do everything. There's nothing that I can't do." CBS Sports Headlines framed the turnaround as remarkable, with Jones expecting to be full go fewer than eight months after the tear. Establish The Run laid out the resulting gap in the market, pointing out that Jones was fantasy's No. 7 quarterback in points per game before the injury and is currently going as the QB25 on DraftKings. Not everyone is buying in yet: BDGE Fantasy Football cautioned that ready to go does not mean fully healthy, and expects him to struggle to connect on the deep ball.

Our take: I’m hung up on that last point of planting and delivering the deep ball. My Giants bias might be coming into play here, but I’m skeptical he gets back to that QB1 level of play. But at QB3 cost, I’m more intrigued. He’s going around names like Tua, Penix, McCarthy, Willis, and Ty Simpson in dynasty startups. I’d take Jones over all those guys.

Kayshon Boutte has been the best player at Patriots camp, and it's complicating the trade rumors around him

Pats Pulpit reported that Boutte, the subject of trade rumors throughout the spring, remains in Foxborough and has made the biggest play of the day in all three competitive sessions so far, including a 40-yard back-shoulder touchdown catch over All-Pro safety Kevin Byard on Tuesday. The Patriots Report with Price & Hogan called him the best wide receiver in camp over the first few days and said it hasn't been particularly close, noting he finished Tuesday with four receptions in practice. Greg Bedard Patriots Podcast went further, saying that if you had to name an offensive MVP for the first two days it would be Boutte, who had the play of the day for a second straight day.

Our take: Listen, I get it. We’re 3 days into camp. Nobody should be walking away from this story thinking Boutte is the Pats WR1 this year. AJB and Doubs are the main guys ahead of him, and they’re new to the offense. Give them time. I’m more interested in Boutte if he gets traded and becomes the WR2 somewhere.

Jadarian Price is taking first-team reps and heavy passing-game work in the opening days of camp

The Fantasy Football Show reported Price is getting a share of the first-team reps, though not all of them, and has been targeted a lot in passing drills through the first three days of camp. Field Gulls called the RB1 and RB2 jobs arguably the most urgent battles of Seahawks camp ahead of Zach Charbonnet's return, with Price competing against Emanuel Wilson and George Holani, and pointed to beat reporting that Price continues to impress early. FantasyPros took the other side, arguing this is likely to be a committee with Holani and Wilson, and that Charbonnet will start the year on PUP but will eventually be back. The Athletic Football Show set the actual question as how much the Seahawks trust Price and how quickly he can take the job and run with it.

Our take: This will be one of the biggest camp battles to watch until Week 1. Certainly seems like Price has the opportunity to take this job and run with it. The more bullish reports that come out like this, the more I’m buying in.

Panthers coach Dave Canales says Jonathon Brooks "looks like the guy I remember" as he practices in full for the first time

Establish The Run reported Brooks is working at camp right out of the gate and relayed the Canales line, adding that Brooks has been steamed roughly 30 to 40 draft spots on the back of the optimism. Locked On Panthers reported Brooks saying he is fully healed, has confidence in the knee, can cut, and is full go. NFL: The Insiders, reporting from Panthers camp, said most of the people on that staff describe Brooks as the X factor for their season, with one coach saying he has another gear, and described watching him make a cut deep enough to make free agent addition Devin Lloyd miss. Ship Chasing put the emphasis on the simplest data point, that Brooks planted in the turf, cut and got through a practice looking good.

Our take: When I saw this headline, all I could think about was the South Park member berries. Good news for Brooks. Hopefully the hype doesn’t go too far…

Who will finish higher in PPR this year?
