Yooo!

We reduced the newsletter cadence to 1x per week for the early part of the offseason as we worked on building out the new site.

Now we’re ramping things back up!

This week, you’ll get a newsletter Mon, Tues, and Wed (I’m taking off Thur and Fri because I’ll be traveling).

Next week, we’ll be back to 5x per week (Mon-Fri).

Last night, I asked you all: “Will Bucky Irving finish better worse than his RB17 ADP?”

59.7%% of you said, “Worse than RB17”

Best subscriber comments:

  • Worse: “If he stays healthy I feel like maybe he could crack it. But even with that big if, Gainwell and Tucker will steal valuable passing and goal line touches, leaving Bucky needing to be damn near perfect.”

  • Better: “He was injured and the o line was injured. Tampa bay projects as the most improved o line from last year to this year. If both stay healthy, and the offense clicks, he will be money.”

  • Better: “Do you remember when Bucky had a healthy OLine, a decent QB that could keep the offense balanced, a solid play caller and played around a 50% snap share? His rookie year. He finished RB13! Gainwell's stats last year were an anomaly bc Rodgers checked down everything lol he's a career backup and that's not changing this year. Bucky at current ADP is a steal with lots of upside!”

  • Better: “I just don't see 17 RBs better than him. He is a playmaker and if he stays healthy he will have a chance to be a difference maker.”

Our take: I voted for worse. The first subscriber comment above summed up my thought process perfectly.

Alright, now let’s get to some news you might’ve missed this week.

Giddy up.

The #1 Roth Conversion Mistake That Costs Retirees

Most people missed the first Roth conversion window. History is offering a rare second chance — but not a long one.

With today's tax rates extended, IRA Millionaires have a brief stretch of historically low brackets left. When it closes, the math changes: higher rates, bigger required distributions, and fewer conversion opportunities each year you wait.

Craig Wear, CFP®, has spent 15+ years helping more than 3,000 families with $1M+ in IRAs plan Roth conversions — helping them avoid a projected $10B+ in lifetime taxes. His new book, Roth Conversion Reset, is the step-by-step playbook:

Lock in today's low rates
Avoid RMD surprises at 73
Protect your spouse from survivor taxes
Keep more for your heirs

James Cook (RB, BUF): James Cook has maintained top-8 PPR status over the last two seasons despite ranking 33rd and 39th in target share, indicating significant efficiency that could be further unlocked by increased passing volume. (Draft Sharks, 2026-08-04)

RJ Harvey (RB, DEN): He profiles as a specialized receiving back, functioning similarly to a high-volume pass-catching role, though his efficiency as a runner remains poor with a 3.2 yards per carry average and 15th percentile run grade. (The Most Accurate Podcast, 2026-08-04)

Travis Etienne (RB, NO): He serves as a benchmark for running back target efficiency, having averaged 2.5 fantasy points per game on design targets alone, despite being considered a mediocre pass catcher. (Fantasy Football Today Beyond the Box Score, 2026-08-04)

Colston Loveland (TE, CHI): He established himself as a high-volume target earner late last season, posting a 25.6% target share and 81.6 receiving yards per game between Weeks 16 and 20. (FantasyPros - Fantasy Football Podcast, 2026-08-04)

Rico Dowdle (RB, PIT): He has achieved back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons with consistent target volume, though his advanced efficiency metrics, including run grade and success rate, have trended below average. (The Most Accurate Podcast, 2026-08-04)

Travis Hunter (WR, JAX): He is actively participating on both sides of the ball during training camp, logging 59% of his snaps on defense and 41% on offense. (Pretend GM Fantasy Football Show, 2026-08-04)

A new play-caller's under-center scheme has fantasy shows split on whether Saquon Barkley bounces back or breaks down

BDGE Fantasy Football points to new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion's under-center, wide-zone scheme as the reason for optimism, noting Barkley ran for 4.9 yards per carry under center last season compared to just 3.5 from shotgun. The Late-Round Fantasy Football Podcast backs the bounce-back case at the goal line specifically, pointing out Barkley converted only 7% of his goal-line carries last year against a 34% career average, a number the show expects to regress upward. Establish The Run Fantasy Football pushes back on the optimism, noting Barkley is entering his age-29 season with nearly 2,200 career touches on his body as the Eagles turn to a run-heavier scheme.

Our take: I’m more in the camp of the bulls expressing optimism for a bounceback. I wouldn’t overpay to acquire him given the age, but I think he’s a decent bet to have a really good season.

Rashee Rice still isn't practicing at full speed, and Chiefs outlets say it's changing how camp looks

Locked On Chiefs reports Rice remains in his acclimation period and wasn't fully going in team drills, meaning he hasn't yet run with Patrick Mahomes in 11-on-11 work. Locked On NFL says his absence, alongside injuries to two other receivers, is part of why the Chiefs have been leaning harder on the run game to start camp. Yahoo Sports NFL notes Rice has averaged 64.2 yards per game with a 74.6% catch rate and 14 touchdowns in 28 games since turning pro, but says his recovery from knee surgery and "off-field baggage" keep his floor shaky heading into the season.

Our take: I own Rashee in one dynasty league and am highly considering trading him before the season starts. Too many red flags for my tastes. Won’t be panic selling, though. Only if I get the right return.

Tucker Kraft's ACL recovery has multiple Packers outlets saying he's full go for Week 1

Draft Sharks reports Kraft's doctors told him his knee "looks spectacular, almost like he had never seen rehabilitation like mine," with the outlet calling him on track for the season opener despite being just 8.5 months removed from surgery to repair a torn ACL, LCL and meniscus. Locked On Packers reports Kraft is calling it a full go with no limitations for Week 1, even as the team still eases him in with lighter personnel groupings during camp. Packers Podcast says Kraft is off the PUP list and back doing individual and blocking drills, relaying that a team doctor told him his knee "looked spectacular... one of the finest recoveries this doctor had ever seen."

Our take: That’s a lot of positivity about Kraft’s knee… almost too much positivity. I’m surprised they didn’t throw in a “best shape of his life” quote for good measure. Obviously great news for Kraft owners if true. But I’d prefer a wait-and-see approach before getting all the way back in on him.

Chris Olave (WR, NOR)

"Olave, through his four seasons in the NFL, has been unable to live up to expectations. That's due to poor quarterback play, below-average offensive output, and injuries... Since Week 9, when Tyler Shough took over as the starting quarterback, Chris Olave ranked (35 target minimum, 58 total receivers): Ninth in Target Share (26.7%) - Tenth in Target Rate (27.0%) - Seventh in Targets Per Game (8.9) - Third in Air Yards (1,000)... Third in Half-PPR PPG (15.8)... The other piece of this equation is head coach and play-caller Kellen Moore... Last year, he set career-highs in targets (156), catches (100), yards (1,163), and touchdowns (nine) just from one year with Moore and eight games with Shough, who was just a rookie."

RotoBaller (article) — "Rob Lorge's League-Winning Fantasy Football Wide Receivers: 3 Must-Have Draft Picks (Part I)"

Our take: Will share my thoughts in the poll recap at the beginning of the next newsletter.

Where will Olave finish in PPR this year?
