In the last newsletter, I asked you all: “Who would you rather draft in a redraft PPR league?”

53.8% of you said, “Josh Jacobs”

Best subscriber comments:

  • Love: “This is a really interesting one. Love will probably find his footing late and be rolling down the stretch. Jacob's will most likely wear down late and cede reps. So Love for me. Also, all 9 of the last rookies drafted in the top 12, have finished in the top 12.”

  • Love: “I am well aware Love is banged up already. I do not care. If pre-season means anything it has showed us that Love is going to get force fed the football in AZ. Jacobs is a solid player but I question his involvement in the pass game. Give me the rook who will only get better as the season goes on.”

  • Jacobs: “If this guy stays healthy the volume is there and there will be plenty of scoring opportunities. Love is special, but minimal scoring opportunities and a guy that siphoned those away from Bijan on his team.”

  • Jacobs: “Close call but it’s Jacobs. He’s on a way better offense and he’s healthy. Suspension is the only concern but you’d think it would have happened by now.”

Our take: Close one! Love’s ADP is RB13 and Jacobs is RB15. I lean Jacobs because of the better offense, more scoring opportunities, and guaranteed workload. Love is already injured, possibly in a committee, and behind a bad o-line.

Jalen Hurts (QB, PHI): (162 mentions last 7 days): His 7.1 yards per attempt and 26.3 rushing yards per game marked a clear decline, and Philadelphia finished below league average in points scored. Analysts still call him one of the safer QB choices, with the rebound case resting on a top-10 offense.

Lamar Jackson (QB, BAL): (109 mentions last 7 days): Converted 27% of pressures into sacks last season, 31st league wide, after ranking third in that metric in 2024. Analysts say a healthy Jackson could make another MVP season possible, with his health and fit with the new play caller the primary risk.

Cam Ward (QB, TEN): (96 mentions last 7 days): Completed 54.2% of his passes this preseason with no touchdown on 24 attempts and a 69.1 passer rating. Analysts say the tape has been worse than the statistics, calling it a clear warning about his near-term fantasy outlook.

Javonte Williams (RB, DAL): (59 mentions last 7 days): Took 65.7% of Dallas' running back attempts and played more than 75% of offensive snaps in nine of the first 13 games. Analysts treat his late-season snap decline as explainable by a shoulder injury, leaving him a high floor and a strong draft priority.

Keaton Mitchell (RB, LAC): (57 mentions last 7 days): His 6.8 career yards per touch is tied for the highest among 84 running backs meeting a 140-touch threshold, though he has only 19 receptions across three seasons. Analysts say more passing-game work would create a better PPR floor as the clear No. 2 behind Omarion Hampton.

Rome Odunze (WR, CHI): (49 mentions last 7 days): Only 48 of his 90 targets were catchable, and he still produced 2.08 yards per route run with 12 red-zone targets despite missing five games. Analysts say poor quarterback accuracy limited the conversion, and call him Chicago's preferred breakout candidate.

Justin Jefferson (WR, MIN): (89 mentions last 7 days): Had 16 end-zone targets, a target share that ranked fourth and an air-yard share that ranked fifth, but only two touchdowns. Analysts say the opportunity stayed intact and quarterback play reduced the output, calling it a discounted price on a first-round receiver.

TreVeyon Henderson's upside remains intact, but an unresolved lower-leg injury, pass-protection concerns and Rhamondre Stevenson's current lead leave his early-season role unsettled.

Recent coverage points to a slower, more difficult start for TreVeyon Henderson. Team coverage indicates that Rhamondre Stevenson remains ahead of him for New England's primary running-back role, that Henderson has not made the expected progress in pass protection or vision, and that he left practice after receiving attention for his right foot or ankle. No diagnosis, severity assessment or return timeline has been reported. Fantasy analysts remain divided between a cautious RB27-range view, based on Henderson's limited workload when Stevenson is active, and a ceiling-based case that still sees league-winning production if his opportunity expands. National coverage likewise views Henderson as a secondary or contingent option for now, while acknowledging that his explosive rushing and receiving ability could make him substantially more valuable if he earns a larger role.

Our take: TreVeyon has an ADP of RB22 right now. Swift and Tuten are RB24 and RB25, respectively. I’d rather take these guys as the lead backs in their offense. Would feel more comfortable if I was grabbing TreVeyon as my RB3 and going for the homerun swing.

Jacory Croskey-Merritt remains a slight favorite for Washington's top-two backfield, but a groin injury and a projected split with Rachaad White leave his workload unsettled.

Recent reports keep Croskey-Merritt ahead of Kaytron Allen and position him to open the season among Washington's top two running backs if healthy, with improved receiving work supporting a larger role. The unresolved question is whether that role develops into a lead-back workload or a substantial split with Rachaad White. National analysts project a heavy division, while some fantasy analysts still give Croskey-Merritt a slight edge and expect the two backs to handle most of the snaps. His rushing efficiency remains the central source of upside, but limited receiving production, uncertain pass protection and touchdown dependence constrain his floor. He is sidelined by an undisclosed lower-body injury that fantasy reports identify as a groin issue. Reports describe it as minor or not serious and express hope that he returns to practice next week, but his opening role remains conditional on his health. The market continues to view him as a late-round upside option, generally around RB35-RB40 and just outside the top 100 overall.

Our take: I’d lean towards taking Rachaad White with the pass-catching upside and college connection with Jayden Daniels.

Deshaun Watson is Cleveland's Week 1 starter, but poor recent play, injury uncertainty and a short leash leave the role unstable.

Team coverage reports that Cleveland named Deshaun Watson its Week 1 starter after evaluating the full quarterback competition, with Todd Monken viewing him as the more prepared option to operate the offense immediately. The same coverage says his status is not secure beyond the opener. His long layoff, poor second preseason game, uneven processing and damaged relationship with Browns fans could force a change if the offense struggles. National coverage agrees that Watson has the opening assignment but widely frames it as a performance-dependent opportunity, with the first two road games against Jacksonville and Tampa Bay serving as a likely test before a possible switch to Shedeur Sanders. Fantasy analysts view Watson as a poor standalone option because his recent efficiency, durability, rushing outlook and job security do not support confidence in a full-season role.

Our take: Does anyone really think Watson is going to hold this job all year long? I’d set the over/under at 3.5 weeks before Shedeur is starting.
